The power of envisioning your goals is immense.
In fact, it’s so immense that research now shows it could help you achieve an even bigger goal: Higher, sustained weight loss.
The details were published in the International Journal of Obesity.
In the study, participants tried a technique called functional imagery training, or FIT, which encouraged them to visualize their weight loss goals.
They tried to imagine how they would look and feel like at a lower weight, as well as envision the obstacles they would face, something that proved to be powerful.
Those who incorporated FIT into their lifestyle ended up losing 7.4 pounds more than those who did not.
That’s right: Just the power of thought alone helped them get slimmer. No dietary restrictions came into play here.
The take home point here?
Dieting isn’t just a numbers game, it’s a mental one–and if you want to lose weight successfully, being in the right mindset matters.
To be thin, think thin.
